Our Story
Active Occupational Therapy was founded in 2019 by principal Occupational Therapist Gerard Bredhauer, a local clinician with extensive experience across both public and private healthcare.
Drawing on his background in hospital and community settings and experience across acute, sub-acute, and community-based rehabilitation, Gerard recognised the need for responsive, quality community-based occupational therapy that supports safe, timely hospital discharge and helps people thrive at home.
Rehabilitation through participation is the core at Active Occupational Therapy where the focus is on meaningful therapy in the right environment. That’s why at Active Occupational Therapy the priority is on practical, home-based or in clinic therapy services—meeting clients where life happens and tailoring supports to their goals.
Since opening, the team has grown—but the commitment to quality, timely and responsive care has not changed. Every client continues to receive the same personalised, evidence-informed support to improve independence and quality of life for Territorians living with neurological and complex conditions.
